Steve's Dive Club Christian Dive Tours to Fiji!

Stephen Arrington, ex-chief diver and expedition leader for The Cousteau Society is offering spectacular dive trips to the exotic Fijian Island of Taveuni.  Experience the incredible underwater world of the Somosomo Straits and dive Rainbow Reef, one of the 10 top rated dive sites in the World (featured in National Geographic Magazine 11/04).  Stay at the Garden Island Resort, rated by SCUBA DIVING Magazine’s People’s Choice Awards in 2003 as the #1 dive resort in the world (with the friendliest staff).  Stay in air conditioned rooms just forty feet from the ocean, enjoy fine Fijian cuisine and it’s only a ten to twenty minute boat ride to the dive sites including the phenomenal White Wall, rated as the Signature Dive of all of Fiji.

The trip package includes round trip airfare from Los Angeles, the commuter flight from Nadi International Airport to Taveuni, local transportation to the Garden Island Resort, seven nights stay (2 person per room), all meals (the food is incredible local cuisine, and five days of boat diving (two tanks a day & most sites are on 20 minutes away).  Note: there are airfare taxes not yet included, which is mostly a fuel surcharge to be computed before June.  After the hurricane Katrina the gas taxes surged to $110, we hope they will fall again.

We leave Los Angeles on June 19, 2008 at 11:30 PM and return on the 28th at 1:20 PM.  When we fly out of Fiji at 10:30 PM on the 28th, because of the international date line we arrive in the USA before we left Fiji.

The cost is $2950 per person for double occupancy rooms   The afternoons will feature trips to waterslides (30 minute walk), plus you can arrange trips to local waterfalls and for horseback riding at a modest additional cost through the hotel.  We are a Christian group so you can anticipate that we are fully family friendly and Christ focused.

The number of people in each group will be limited to sixteen divers; non divers can join at reduced costs.  I will share on a personal basis what I have learned diving with Jacques and Jean-Michel Cousteau including underwater camera work, filming techniques, lighting, how to frame and get great underwater video images, and how to work with underwater subjects.  I have over 30 years experience as a scuba instructor, was the air diving supervisor at the College of Oceaneering (#1 rated commercial diving college in the USA) and did 14 years as a Navy frogman leading expeditions to remote and dangerous locations. A copy of my book The Expedition and Diving Operations Hand Book will be featured as the core to our training program.  I intend to tailor informal discussions to the interests of the group.  Basic scuba instruction is also available at an additional fee through one of the resort instructors (Discover Diving can have someone ocean ready in just two days).  To see the resort please visit http://www.aquatrek.com/home.html.

A $200 nonrefundable deposit per person is required to secure your place on the trip, with the final amount due ninety days before departure.  I am hopeful that the premiere trip will fill rapidly so if you are looking to book a spot please call me at (530) 872-4884.  You are welcome (for an added fee) to extend your trip, which could include a visit to other islands or volunteer at Buca Bay Clinic on Vauna Levu Island (just two hours away by slow boat) or visit our Swiss Family Robinson-type of youth camp currently under construction.

Sincerely yours, Stephen Arrington.

Two national diving book reviewers gave this book their highest rating: "This is the best tool published for planning overseas dive trips for both the professional and basic divers.  It includes practical and  advanced information on chartering vessels, equipment, photography and emergency procedures.  A must for any professional diver or instructor.  Ideal for film makers and research teams as well as for professional and commercial divers.
